Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said today that he had told the Legislature’s Democratic leaders he would veto their plan for balancing the state’s budget because it includes tax increases.
And he won’t accept any other plan containing tax hikes or an increase in state fees, the governor said.
“None of that will fly with me,” Schwarzenegger told reporters outside his Capitol office. “I will without any doubt veto it, and I made that clear to the legislative leaders.”
He reiterated his dismay that lawmakers were willing to raise taxes but unwilling to cut state workers’ salaries. And he noted that in February, Californians received the biggest tax increase in state history.
Y vete Arnold vete.
