Demoledor, no al socialismo

Vamos que ganamos ... los burócratas

¿Es para que el seguro de salud llegue a todos o un intento de convertir a EE.UU. en una dictablanda socialista?

The public should know that although 45.7 million Americans are uninsured, 250 million Americans currently have health insurance. Of the 45.7 million uninsured, 6.4 million are the Medicaid undercount, meaning they are either on Medicaid or S-Chip but say they are uninsured, and another 4.3 million are eligible, yet have not signed up for, Medicaid or S-Chip. Another 9.3 million are non-citizens. About 10.1 million have incomes more than three times the poverty level, and could afford to purchase insurance, but choose not to for various reasons. Of the remaining 15.6 million uninsured, 5 million are adults without children between ages 18 and 34. So the remaining 10.6 million are the hard cases – the working poor families, the chronically-ill, and people otherwise not eligible for government health insurance programs.

Given these facts about the problem, do we need really need such a radical overhaul of our entire health care system, which currently provides health coverage to over 250 million Americans, to assist 10.6 million hard-core uninsured? This approach risks “throwing the baby out with the bath water.” Instead of a government takeover of health care, it would be more prudent, and less costly, certainly less than $1.5 trillion, to assist the 10.6 million uninsured immediately. This could be done through a government subsidy program for the chronically ill, and a refundable tax credit, or maybe a government-funded debit card, for the working poor to purchase health insurance or medical expenses.
