The "trading places jam" debuted at Hampton Coliseum on 11/25/95 and was truly a sight to behold. The jam took place out of "Mike's Song". As the band drifted out of that song and into a groove, Page stood up and walked over to the drums. Fish in turn picked up Mike's bass, Mike moved to the guitar, and Trey played on the piano. They continued jamming in this fashion for a little while longer, until the clockwise rotation began again. The jam concluded after the band completed an entire rotation. The jam remains cohesive because, regardless of the proficiency of individual band memebers on particular instruments, each of them continues to listen to the others, no small feat when one is not performing on one's usual instrument.
