El turismo médico en la Reina del Plata. No se pierdan los precios en dólares. Qué barato que es Argentina. O, dejando de lado los eufemismos, qué pobre que es:
The Telos are young, attractive, and intensely smart. Both in their late 20s and with a strong command of English, they're capitalizing on the weakness of the Argentine peso. Gustavo tells me they smartly decided to market their services to tourists "because (travellers) are on holidays and their energy is better -- they're happy!" Currently, their practice is about 50 per cent tourists.
It seems mucho loco that anyone, foreigner or not, is happy about going to the dentist. But I find I am happy. The dollars I'm saving -- about $1,000 by my estimate -- are effectively paying for a substantial part of my vacation. (All prices in approximate dollars.) I decide to put some of those savings toward whitening my smile and replacing 30-year-old cosmetic fillings.
